Rolling Resistance Measurement Bench
A step ahead when races are won by just thousandths of a second
Thanks to our unique test bench, we are able to recreate real racing conditions and mechanical stress scenarios in our workshops in Loriol‑sur‑Drôme. Orientation, load, speed — we can adjust numerous parameters to analyze every detail of performance.
By fine‑tuning pressure, testing different tire setups, and combining various rim widths, we identify the ideal configurations to optimize speed, stability, and efficiency.
This test bench also allows us to measure rolling resistance — in other words, the amount of watts a cyclist must produce to offset the energy losses caused by tire‑to‑ground contact. These data guide our product development to ensure our wheels are continually more efficient.
A unique technological tool
The development of this unprecedented test bench is the result of many years of expertise in high‑level cycling and composite design. But to go even further, it also required tapping into advanced skills in mechanics, automation, and data analysis.
Our engineers and their partners have multidisciplinary profiles, drawing on a wide range of competencies: materials engineering, mechanical dynamics expertise, as well as software development to create reliable and reproducible measurement protocols. This combination of know‑how now allows us to simulate racing conditions with exceptional precision.
These data provide us with a deep understanding of the mechanical phenomena that influence the performance and reliability of a wheel.
This tool is not just for measurement: it enables us to improve, validate, and optimize every stage of product development.
Expertise serving professionals… and every cyclist
We regularly host professional teams, federations, and elite athletes to determine the optimal setup with them: rim width, pressure, tire configuration… every parameter is analyzed to maximize their performance in real‑world conditions.
This work doesn’t benefit only professionals. The insights gained from these tests directly inform our product development and our usage recommendations, especially regarding optimal tire pressures. What helps champions go faster ultimately benefits every amateur cyclist.
Finally, our test bench also enables us to assess the fatigue and reliability of our products, ensuring wheels that are high‑performing, durable, and suited to every type of riding.
The ideal pressure
It’s a complex topic. Thanks to the observations made on our test bench, we have developed an accurate pressure calculator capable of guiding you toward the optimal tire pressure based on several parameters: your weight, the Corima wheel model you are using (and its internal width), as well as your tire size.
It’s important to note that the constraints and configurations differ significantly between road and gravel riding. Recommended pressures can therefore vary considerably depending on your discipline and the type of tires you use.
This tool is a valuable everyday resource. It helps you find the most suitable pressure to improve your efficiency, comfort, and safety.
